Billions of bilious barbecued blue blistering barnacles!

April 23, 2013 Julie GardnerLeave a comment

Just had a bit of a chuckle to myself looking at some of Captain Haddock's insults and exclamations from Tintin (I don't usually spend my spare time doing that, maybe I should, I was just looking for an interesting title for this blog post!) Well, this is a Tintin lampshade I made yesterday for a… Continue reading Billions of bilious barbecued blue blistering barnacles!

It's time to look back at the last twelve months at gilhoolie and make some real plans for 2013. Sometimes I can't believe some of the events below only happened a matter of months ago and I have to say, I'm really looking forward to more fun and learning in the next twelve months. So,… Continue reading Hello 2013!…

Lunch is for wimps…

I have to be honest, I've found it a bit hard getting back into things after the summer holidays (hang on, it's Autumn now, right?!) but this week feels like a turning point. Yesterday I had a lovely day making a bespoke comic book lampshade for a client who had seen my Tintin ones on… Continue reading Lunch is for wimps…

Tintin Lampshades…

One of the first things I did when I started writing this blog was decorate a wall in my son's bedroom by using pages from a Tintin book as wallpaper. Have a look at the post I wrote here. Well, I've been wanting to make some paper lampshades for a while so I thought it was… Continue reading Tintin Lampshades…

Tintin on a feature wall

March 15, 2011March 25, 2011 Julie Gardner6 Comments

We decorated the boys bedroom a while ago but it was a bit plain so I decided to paper a small section with pages from a Tintin book as an alternative to wallpaper or stickers. This was so easy and the effect was great, I love the muted colours of blue, green and orange. Just… Continue reading Tintin on a feature wall

Okay, so I'm a few days behind on this challenge so I'll do my best to catch up! #marchmeetthemaker is a chance to show you a bit about me and the gilhoolie brand so here goes! (Thank you to @joannehawker for the challenge).
These rectangular lampshades are super neat! 😍
I've been busy making lots of lampshades today, while listening to some lovely music from Florence and the Machine spotify radio 🎵
Loving the choice of fabric for these big drum lampshades made for a new client yesterday. Cotton lets the light💡 through beautifully and this @ninacampbellltd geometric print is really pretty. A bit of a challenge to line up, especially for a perfectionist like me... 🤣
My goodness, it really feels like spring today! 🌞🌷 I have been busy making with the doors to my workshop wide open which is so lovely.
Echinacea drawing by gilhoolie, just having a play in Photoshop this morning 😊 Still dreaming of spring and looking forward to milder weather and of course the unlockdown!!!
